From the President

Dr. John F. JohnsonFrom our founding in 1864, Concordia University Chicago has been committed to excellence in education. Today, as a modern comprehensive university, we maintain that tradition of excellence and our ongoing mission to develop the minds and hearts of our students as they prepare for their paths in life.

Here at Concordia, every professor and staff member share my deepest commitment to helping every student achieve his or her educational goals and dreams. Students quickly find that we are dedicated to providing personal attention to their needs while providing them with innovative academic programs and a rich educational experience—whether they are taking classes on our main campus, online or at one of more than 60 locations throughout the Chicago region where our faculty offer instruction.

We are honored that ever-growing numbers of students choose our College of Graduate and Innovative Programs and our College of Business to pursue their certifications, master’s and doctoral degrees.

Here at Concordia, you will find more than 30 vibrant graduate programs including several that are among the nation’s largest—such as our nationally recognized educational leadership program for teachers of education and experienced school administrators.

You will also find programs that are among the first of their kind in the nation, such as our online certificate and MBA concentration in school business management for chief school business officials.

Our master’s level programs prepare leaders in a range of additional specialties within education as well as in fields from community counseling and gerontology, to social services and religion.

Meanwhile, our post-master programs include doctoral programs in early childhood education, organizational leadership and sports management.

Concordia also provides a range of on- and off-campus programs through the University’s Institute for Professional Studies that benefit thousands of professionals every year: our annual professional education conferences, adult degree completion programs, certificate programs in field from human resources management and information technology management to piano pedagogy and athletic coaching—and much more.

Whether they are teaching K-12 educators to effectively incorporate modern classroom technology, or working with CUC graduate students to support urban middle schools assessing the progress of their English language learners—our faculty and staff share their expert knowledge to create valued learning opportunities for our students.

We cordially invite you to personally experience this innovation, personal support, excellence and all that Concordia University Chicago has to offer—educationally, professionally and spiritually. We think you will discover what so many other Concordia University Chicago graduates already have experienced: an affordable education that nurtures and enriches mind and soul.
