Candidates must complete the following curriculum:

  • EDL 6130 – School Evaluation and Change Process
    This course examines all aspects of the school program and curricular evaluation processes to school improvement as well as change processes and interventions.  This class is highly interactive requiring thoughtful and engaging dialogue and the ability to reflect on the impact of change within personal and institutional settings. ISSLC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; ELCC 1, 2, 3, 4, 6; SBMI 1, 2, 9, 10, 17, 18, 19; field experiences include a school Needs Assessment, Data Collection, Action Plan, Refection
  • EDL 6211 – Principles of School Business Management
    This course examines all aspects of school business management to include finance, human resources and auxiliary services.  Students will explore the effect of resource management on protected classes such as low income, special education and ELL students.  Lastly, the course will explore the effect of resource management on student achievement. ISSLC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; ELCC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; SBMI 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 19, 22, 23; Capstone Project -  Analysis of Auxiliary Service Delivery Models; Reflection Paper - The Impact of Resource Management on Student Performance 
  • EDL 6510 – School Fund Accounting and Budgeting
    This examines all aspects of school business management accounting and budgeting,  Integrity and competence are demonstrated as candidates show their understanding of the basic concepts and best practices related to school fund accounting and budgeting including legal and ethical considerations. ISSLC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; ELCC 1, 2, 3, 4, 6; SBMI 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15,17,20 ; field experience includes a Resource Allocation Interview with a district administrator.
  • EDL 6520 – School Finance Law
    This course examines the legal framework for school finance law.  Case law will be examined and applied to legal problems that confront chief school business officials. Students will explore the effect of school finance legal decisions on protected classes such as low income, special education and ELL students.  Lastly, the course will explore the effect of school finance legal decisions on student achievement. ISSLC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; ELCC 1, 2, 3, 4, 6; SBMI 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 21; field experiences include Screening, Interviewing and Selection Process; Capstone project –Legal Case Analysis

  • EDL 6986 – Internship in School Business Management I
    This required 16-week internship course in the Chief School Business Official’s Endorsement program supports the development of servant-leaders in public schools. Integrity and competence are demonstrated as candidates show their understanding of the basic concepts and best practices related to school business management.  Competency is demonstrated through the completion of case studies addressing issues related to policy, application of school business management principles, and diversity. Creativity is expressed in thoughtful approaches to case studies and the application of field experiences to the school setting. ISSLC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; ELCC 1, 2, 3, 4, 6; Clinical experience: Business Management Policy Project; Internship Matrix/Time Logs/Reflection Paper
  • EDL 6987 – Internship in School Business Management II
