Concordia MBA graduate named chairperson of Girls in the Game

August 9, 2011—Concordia University Chicago MBA graduate Jen Groh has been named chairperson of the board of directors for Girls in the Game, a nonprofit organization providing sports, nutrition and leadership programming to girls. Groh is currently the Director of Program Strategies for DeVry University and Keller Graduate School of Management.

Jen GrohJen will lead the board through the implementation of the organization's five-year strategic plan, which includes expansion of Girls in the Game programs further across Chicago and also across the country.

Girls in the Game is one of the only organizations in Chicago dedicated to developing the whole girl. Programs are year-round, multisport, and include leadership development and physical and emotional health workshops for girls and young women. The organization welcomes girls of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Since inception in 1995, they have provided services to more than 25,000 girls. 

A life-long athlete, Jen, like other board members, credits success in her professional endeavors in part to participation in athletics. Jen completed her Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication at Western Michigan University while playing volleyball.  As she entered the workforce, she competed throughout the country in semi-professional beach volleyball on the EVP tour until 2005. She has also participated in various adventure and endurance races, is a member of the Girls in the Game Charity Race Team, and still plays amateur beach volleyball.

During her years of board service, Jen has shared her professional strengths of managing and leading teams in working with multiple committees to further develop the mission of the organization. Past employers include DeltakAon Consulting, and Coventry Healthcare. Jen also completed her Master of Business Administration at Concordia University Chicago in 2010 and is currently in pursuit of her doctorate.
