The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago is pleased to announce the Senior Capstone Exhibition, featuring an eclectic array of works from senior art students. The exhibit is free and open to the public through Feb. 24. A reception with the artists will be held in the gallery Sunday, Jan. 28 from 2-4 p.m., with an artist talk at 3 p.m.

The variety of works on display will showcase graphic design, painting, photography, drawings, mixed media and more.

“For the first time, students have designed a series of small items in the form of playing cards, stickers and photo books that are collectable for just a few dollars,” says gallery director Nikkole Huss, professor of art and curator of Concordia-Chicago’s art collection.

“In addition, the central carpeted area has been transformed into an installation that captures the essence of walking into a family room, dining room and office to see and interact with works of art. For example, it's possible to sit down in a comfy chair and use a remote control to watch a video on a vintage TV. In the dining room area, viewers may recognize labels on a pizza box or chicken sandwich that are also currently used in our cafeteria by Sodexo. The office area contains a drafting table with a sketchbook and drawing utensils. Everyday life and art are intertwined.”

The Ferguson Art Gallery is located in Kretzmann Hall at Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta St., River Forest, IL. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit CUChicago.edu/ferguson or call 708-209-3013.
