When you’re looking at Christian universities, it’s important to find out what specific opportunities you’ll have to participate in dynamic, Christ-centered programs. At Concordia-Chicago, a Lutheran university that embodies Christian teaching and virtue, nurturing students’ spiritual lives is an essential piece of the college experience—it’s part of living out your vocation, or the ways through which God calls you into service of others. Here are just five of many ways CUC ensures that Christ is at the center of your student experience.

  1. Spiritual Life: There are countless ways for you to engage in the faith through Spiritual Life activities on campus. Students plan a wide range of events, including retreats, Bible studies, speakers, concerts, movie nights and other fellowship activities. This group also supports the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Prayer and Praise teams. Follow them on Instagram to stay in the know about upcoming events.

Service projects and outreach events include ministry to urban youth, prison literacy programs, nursing home ministry, and support for the homeless and the developmentally disabled. You may also have the opportunity go on mission trips to other parts of the country or even internationally.
  3. Daily Chapel: Do you ever wish you had a little more time each day for reflection and prayer? At CUC, you don’t even have to plan it—it’s already carved out for you through daily Chapel, which is open to the entire campus community. Each weekday from 11-11:20 a.m. is reserved for this liturgical worship service featuring a variety of musical styles. As part of the University's strong extended faith community, guest preachers regularly include LCMS pastors, CUC theology faculty and other spiritual leaders.
  4. Sacred Music: Concordia-Chicago has built a faith community focused on celebrating Christ through the University's renowned music ensembles. Members of the CUC music community lead in a variety of capacities around campus and across the country. Even if you’re not a music major, you can join a music ensemble! There are plenty of ways for non-performers to take part, too, including attending free concerts and special services, like the Christmas favorite, Lessons & Carols.
  5. Concordia Youth Ministry: The CYM teams are passionate about inspiring the next generation of faithful and ethical servant leaders. They meet weekly for team-building and to plan events for youth, like lock-ins and retreats. You’ll develop leadership skills as you work with junior and senior high school student groups from around the region to build positive, Christ-centered relationships.
