Adjunct Professor of Business

Kwame Salter, retired Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Kraft Foods, is widely respected as a strategic thought leader. Currently, Kwame is President of The Salter Consulting Group LLC and an Adjunct Professor in the College of Business at Concordia University Chicago where he teaches MBA Cohorts.

Prior to his private sector career, he distinguished himself an outstanding public sector leader and educator in Madison, Wisconsin, having served multiple terms in elected office as President of the School Board; Executive Director of Dane County Parent Council, Inc. (a Project Head Start grantee) and Interim Executive Director of the Dane County Community Action Commission. Moreover, he was appointed by President Reagan as Chair of the Wisconsin Commission on Civil Rights. The hallmarks of Kwames entire professional career, across sectors, are: strategic thinking, planning and action; teamwork and collaboration; mentoring and coaching; insight and reflection.
His corporate career began at Oscar Mayer Foods in Madison, Wisconsin where he rose to positions of increasing responsibility in the Human Resources Function. While at Oscar Mayer, his career included HR responsibility for both Headquarter Sales and Marketing as well as Field support for Louis Kemp Seafood Companys plants. In addition to positions in HR at Oscar Mayer, Kwame also served as Director of Public Affairs.
With the formation of Kraft General Foods, Kwame relocated to Glenview, Illinois and was charged with consolidating the Kraft, General Foods and Oscar Mayer Foodservices personnel into the new Kraft North American Foodservice Division (including HR oversight responsibility for the Kraft Foods Ingredients Company in Memphis, Tennessee. After successfully leading the HR integration of the Foodservices businesses into the newly formed Kraft North American Division, Kwame was promoted to VP of HR for the Kraft Sales and Customer Service function.
With the acquisition of the Nabisco Company, Kwame was given responsibility for integrating the Nabisco HR sales staff. Having distinguished himself as an accomplished business leader, Kwame was promoted into subsequent HR leadership roles in the new Global Kraft Company, each with increasing scope and responsibility. These positions included VP of HR Global (Finance, Legal, Public Affairs, R&D, IT, Staffing and Diversity) and Senior VP of HR for the Global Supply Chain functionthe largest (with over 30,000 employees worldwide) business support function in the newly formed Kraft Global Company.
During his over 22-year career at Kraft, Kwame was a much sought after mentor, motivational speaker and thought leader across Company functions and divisions. Kwame was also instrumental in developing the Undisputed Industry Leader vision statement once used at Kraft. Kwame is a published author, consultant and Executive Coach as well as a sought after content and motivational speaker.
