Concordia-Chicago gerontology expert discusses age as a factor in presidential fitness on Chicago Tonight

Dr. John Holton was a guest expert on the April 29, 2019 broadcast of Chicago Tonight (WTTW Channel 11). Holton, associate professor of gerontology and director of Concordia-Chicago’s Center for Gerontology, spoke with veteran Chicago Tonight host Phil Ponce about whether a candidate’s age should be a factor in determining his or her fitness to succeed in the demanding role of U.S. President. The matter of age-related cognitive and physical decline is of wide interest in the present time, given that the sitting President, Donald Trump, is the oldest to ever hold the post, and several candidates for the Democratic Party nomination for the 2020 election are older still.
